Building a Community
Empowering Subscribers — Maintaining Control

LET US HELP YOU, TOO.

DynamiteOnline is not part of Dynamite Marketing. The DynamiteOnline site supports a large community of independent Dynamite distributors.

Contact us if you have a company, a club, an association, or any group that would benefit from an online community that fosters better communication between its members; that gives you an online and searchable archive or your documents, your questions and answers, your products, or anything else; and that gives you secure control over who may see or change any content on your website.

If we can be of help, send an email to SYSTEMS@DynamiteOnline.com and let us know how and when to reach you.

A BRIEF HISTORY

My career in the computer industry goes back to France in 1979. In 1978, I was a graduate student in Monterey, California, completing a Master's in International Business Management and Economics and in French Translation and Interpretation. The opportunity to teach at a French technical university and to be a management intern at the Honeywell-Bull computer company was just too good to pass up. I found that I had a bit of a knack for simpifying processes and streamlining them with the help of mini-computers. Upon my return to the U.S., I completed my degree and found work with a major American computer company. With the advent of the PC and later the Macintosh, my work at various market-leading hardware and software companies focused on making relational databases easy to use. What good are databases and forms and reports if the average user cannot accomplish simple tasks easily? Later, my focus switched to wireless telephone technology. Two other colleagues of mine and I spun a company out of one of the largest U.S. computer companies in 1999, received venture funding, built and licensed a software product to a global top 5 carrier, and sold the company to a publicly traded software company with nearly 1,000 employees in February 2002. Strangely enough, the focus of our product is a technology that allows the wireless carrier to share control of menus on wireless telephones.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Shared control seems to be a theme in much of what I do with computers. The DynamiteOnline website reflects my longstanding experience with databases and my belief in the importance of intelligent sharing of the control of data. Who can input data? What data can be seen by whom? How can I coordinate input and approval of content between my office in California and Regan Golob and Judy Sinner who ride herd on the content of the website from their homes on opposite ends of the state of Washington? How can I assure that any changes I make in any forms or menus of DynamiteOnline also appear on the systems everywhere that I have granted control? How can I allow any current subscriber to input a question or comment while preventing misinformation, insulting or inapprorpriate language, and the promotion of non-Dynamite products?

The answer was to apply some of my basic beliefs about data management systems. Whenever possible, data should be entered only once. Design changes should affect existing data as well as future documents. In other words, a comment or article that has been presented via the website since it was entered in 1999 should take on any changes to the background graphics, the links, or the publication approval process. No data should be viewable or searchable until it has been approved for publication. No subscriber should be allowed to "flame" another. The system is expensive to create and maintain and people who use it should pay for access. Those who don't pay should have their access taken away. People who subscribe must first accept the Terms and Conditions, including the agreement to NOT republish the content without my prior written approval. Anyone found to be in violation of my copyright must be dealt with to the full extent of the law. If something is valuable, it is worth protecting. I have only the highest intentions in creating a site of this kind. My philosophy is, quite simply, that I will not associate with people who do not respect this undertaking and I will not allow them to profit from my work and the work of all of the marvelous people who continue to support the site with their subscriptions, their questions, and their comments. As Dynamite's Director of Communications, Judy Sinner contributed immeasurably to the quality and quantity of information at your fingertips. She has continued to provide tremendous articles and responses to your postings in the Forum long after she stepped down from the role of Director of Communications for Dynamite Marketing, Inc.

THE RIGHT TECHNOLOGY — THE RIGHT TEAM — THE RIGHT LOCATION

I put together a team of advanced programmers of IBM Notes Domino databases. With their help, I laced together various databases to enable the input, search, and archival of thousands of articles, product descriptions, usage guidelines, and more. My servers are located inside a high-security faciltiy in the Silicon Valley that also houses the top Internet auction, email, portal, and financial sites in North America. The site has redundant wiring for networks and power. It has the capacity to run for days on a combination of battery back-up and diesel generators. There are technicians on-site 24-hour-per day. Once again, I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right. I created an online and searchable Distributor Manual. My system provides unlimited forwarding of email to my subscribers. Everything I do is focused on realizing the original goals of DynamiteOnline:

  • creating a true online community
  • streamling the sharing of Dynamite product information
  • serving up information to both the browsing public and the ever-growing number of Dynamite distributors
  • encouraging easy communication between Dynamite distributors

WHY DYNAMITE?

My wife has been a Dynamite® distributor since 1992. Throughout this time, we have both come to know and greatly respect Jim Zamzow, the founder of Dynamite Marketing, his family, Dynamite products, and the tireless efforts of Judy Sinner. We have also come to know many of the top Dynamite distributors in the United States and Canada. It became clear to me that the success of Dynamite in expanding its distributor base would greatly increase the workload on the entire staff. I became determined to respond to the growing needs of Dynamite distributors everywhere by offering an Internet-based system that put educational and research tools in their hands and immediate product information into the hands of their prospects and customers. There is so much valuable information to be shared. Why not do it at "Internet speed"?
